3. Filling the Knowledge Package Metadata

After accessing and understanding the Deposit interface, the first step required to create a Knowledge Package is to fill in the metadata fields.

The metadata sections include:

The files section allows you to upload the files associated with the Knowledge Package. Note that if no files are to be added, you must set the Metadata-only record option.

The Basic information section allows you to define information such as title and publication date. You can also specify a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) — either using an existing DOI or creating a new one managed by the GEO Knowledge Hub.

The Description and languages section allows you to add a description and set the language of the package materials. Additional descriptions can be attached (e.g., Table of contents, technical information).

The People section is where you can define the creators and contributors of the Knowledge Package. For both, people and organizations can be associated, with information such as ORCID and role.

In this section, you can define subjects (from OECD Field of Science), the GEO Work Programme Activity, Engagement Priorities (SDGs, Paris agreement), and Target Audiences.

In Dates and versions, you can add the Package version, along with relevant dates.

The Geographic locations section allows you to define spatial information using an interactive map, GeoJSON files, or GeoNames identifiers.

Define the first Publisher of the work and a License for the content. The recommended licenses are based on the GEO Data Sharing principles.

Define all the materials related to the Knowledge Package, from presentations to other packages.
