Description
The national mapping program for natural and semi-natural habitats (CarHab) is a key tool in the national biodiversity strategy. Its aim is to produce a national cartographic model of natural and semi-natural habitats for terrestrial ecosystems in mainland France and overseas, at a scale of 1:25,000.
CarHab is an operational tool for government departments, local authorities and their associations, enabling them to pre-visualize the types of natural habitats present and their distribution, taking into account the issues they cover.
The CarHab program is carried out in close collaboration with the OFB (Office Français de la Biodiversité), PatriNat (MNHN-OFB-CNRS-IRD), Centre d'expertise et de données sur le patrimoine naturel, IGN (Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière), CBN (conservatoires botaniques nationaux), EVS laboratory (UMR 5600, Université Jean Monnet Saint-Etienne), CESBIO (Centre d'Etudes Spatiales de la Biosphère), CEREMA (Centre d'études et d'expertise sur les risques, l'environnement, la mobilité et l'aménagement) and BRGM (Bureau de recherches géologiques et minières).
