Open Data and Open Knowledge Workshop (2023)

Description

All the workshop materials from the Open Data and Open Knowledge Workshop held in Geneva, Switzerland on June 15th and 16th are included in this knowledge package. The ODOK workshop was organized by GEO Secretariat, Data Working Group, GEOSS Platform Team, and GEO Knowledge Hub Team with the support of the GEO Community.

The Open Data and Open Knowledge Workshop (ODOK) aimed to facilitate dialogue on Open Data and Open Knowledge within various sectors of the GEO (Group on Earth Observations) community. To achieve this goal, nine thematic sessions were conducted, focusing on specific areas of interest.

  • Open Space-based Data and Data Cubes
  • Towards Open Knowledge Principles
  • Open In Situ Data and Essencial Variables
  • Capacity Development and National GEO's.
  • Youth community of practice
  • Open Knowledge and Data Licensing
  • Open EO Applications
  • Private sector contributions to the Open Data and Open Knowledge

Operational Applications of different initiatives were also presented during the practical hands on sessions. In particular, the following practices were showcased.
