Minimum Quality Standards for LDN Tools and Data

  • 1. GEO

Description

The GEO-LDN developed the minmum quality standards through a consultant that supports not only the flagship's operations to providing highly efficient tools and data to support countries in achieving their LDN targets. The report of the consultancy consited of three key focus areas. First, short discussion on OGC APIs and how the Processes API could be worked into some of the software projects related to LDN; a short discussion on linking software to major computational platforms; and an explanation surrounding interoperability standards.

Second, the second part presents the results of a rapid update on the previous GEO-LDN work on minimum data quality standards. Further, it reports on Essential Variables and considers what might be considered to generate Essential Land Variables.

The final part outlines the decisions and reasoning used to develop a quality review process for new software tools wanting access into the GEO-LDN Toolbox. The process is to include the minimum technical, interoperability and content standards defined in Task A, and to present a possible assessment route for creating a colour coded rating for candidate tools. Section 1 of this document details the assessment process whilst Section 2 introduces a demonstrator for classifying the assessment.
