Description
The Flood Observatory for Resilient Aude and Occitanie (FORO) is a cutting-edge decision-support tool developed to enhance flood risk assessment and climate resilience in the region. Originating from the FLAude project after the catastrophic October 2018 floods in Aude, FORO leverages satellite imagery, climate models, and advanced analytics to improve the understanding and mitigation of extreme hydro-meteorological events.
Deployed in the Aude department in 2021, FORO has become a model for flood resilience. Its success has led to a gradual rollout across the Mediterranean Arc, ensuring broader adoption of climate adaptation strategies.
With new European and global climate datasets, FORO aims to support sustainable regional planning, mitigate flood risks, and serve as a replicable model across France and beyond.
