EDUCSCO : The educational component of Space for Climate Observatory

Description

EDUCSCO is a cross-cutting initiative supported by the OCS inter-agency committee, whose aim is to raise awareness of climate change issues through interventions, training and educational materials. It is aimed at citizens and educators, and focuses on disseminating knowledge about the mechanisms, causes and consequences of climate change as measured from space.

Details

The project begins with specialized training sessions for educators in the Toulouse (France) academy, and extends nationwide in subsequent years. EDUCSCO covers a range of topics related to climate change, including the mechanisms of climate change, greenhouse gas measurements from space, and the assessment of consequences such as sea-level rise, increased temperatures, melting ice, droughts and extreme weather events. Drawing on the expertise of the SCO, it presents practical examples of space-based risk management and territorial adaptation initiatives.
