GADE LAPLI: estimate rainfall and flood zones
Description
The Gade Lapli project uses advanced space technology to help manage rainfall and flood risks in Haiti. It provides real-time data and tools to support crisis response and long-term planning for climate change adaptation.
By combining satellite data with high-resolution terrain models, the project estimates rainfall and identifies flood-prone areas. This information is delivered through the GADE LAPLI platform, an online tool that updates every 30 minutes, allowing authorities to visualize risks and take timely action. Alerts are also sent via email and SMS to help local agencies respond quickly to emergencies.
By enhancing Haiti's ability to respond to natural disasters and monitor climate risks, Gade Lapli sets an example for similar efforts in other vulnerable regions.
